the unexplainable
did you know
if you fold a twenty dollar bill
just so
you can see the twin towers burning?
the new art museum is designed
to appear as if it fell down already
always conjures up that sickening day
who can even pray anymore
remember
they jumped hand in hand
kicking, unbelieving, turning one last time
one last look at blue sky
even shoeless children
are not spared from this
the absence of God
or is this the greatness? I get them confused
suicide bomber
be sure to meet them all
be sure to explain again
you signed up for a different kind of heaven
if you fold a twenty dollar bill
just so
you can see the twin towers burning?
the new art museum is designed
to appear as if it fell down already
always conjures up that sickening day
who can even pray anymore
remember
they jumped hand in hand
kicking, unbelieving, turning one last time
one last look at blue sky
even shoeless children
are not spared from this
the absence of God
or is this the greatness? I get them confused
suicide bomber
be sure to meet them all
be sure to explain again
you signed up for a different kind of heaven

I enjoyed your poem. Very pensive. Most of us at a loss of words, but here it is stated so succinctly.
Thanks for your comments. It took a long time to get to a place where I could even think about it.
